Not sure what to make of this. Hopefully things turn out better next year.

While I think the changes they're making are VERY GOOD ideas... (And not that different from the changes Danny Barrett made in Saskatchewan)... how bad does a head coaching situation need to be that a team who ALREADY has a coach under contract NEEDS to hold a news conference to announce their head coach IS coming back?

Weird Press Conference for sure.  But, again... Barrett had the OC title stripped from him early in his days in Saskatchewan and that isn't a bad thing.  A HC has a lot on his plate and some guys can't do all of it well.

I actually think Kelly has the tools to be a decent HC as long as he can keep his mouth out of trouble.

With the arrest today, Naylor is now reporting that the Bombers have an emergency meeting of the Board of Directors and the Free Press is speculating that Kelly will be fired tonight.  The firing now would be for cause presumably and would therefore void the 2 remaining years on his contract.

On the one hand, you'd want to see a club stick with a guy as innocent until proven guilty, but if they were still on the fence, and a large contributing factor was the financial commitment they'd be on the hook for, this is an out from under that.  It's also an out that Kelly, to at least some degree, brought upon himself.  I don't know what happened, nor the circumstances surrounding the events, but never condone physical violence in these sorts of circumstances.

I don't know whether Kelly is guilty of what he has been charged with but given his behaviour this past season, he does appear to need anger management counselling.
