http://www.tsn.ca/cfl/feature/?id=11505The timing makes me believe, and this is speculation not fact, that all of the 9-gamed salaries have likely left the Esks in a position with some SMS room, and they're using this to front-load a signing bonus for Lloyd in order to have a somewhat more cap-friendly salary going forward. I had the same theory wrt Kelly Campbell.
Lloyd had signed a 1+1 last offseason so was heading into his option year. No terms were released on the extension.
He didn't have the year that many might have expected of him, but I think that those expectations were a little over the top given the transition and lack of continuity around him. Too many starting rookies, too many injuries and too many guys that didn't play up to their potential left him, at times, trying to do too much. It showed through from time to time in him over-running plays instead of trusting in the contain and staying in his lane.
