I'm starting to organize the 09 Snow Bowl more now with 5 weeks to go. Already been talking a bit with a few guys, Saskan in Winnipeg, Hoof, Sugarfoot, Eskinator.

I'll probably start up a Facebook page as its good to get approx attendee numbers etc but thought this is the best place to start to get some help, player, refs commitment etc.

So if you want to help, play or ref add your name to this post saying what you want to do. If you don't have a password and are reading this register and email me at the same time to myk@mykaussie.com so I know your registration on here is to do with the 09 Snow Bowl.

To date,
1) Been promoting the Snow Bowl on 09 CFL Grey Cup Preview TotalCFL TV shows as seen via Total-CFL.com, mykaussie.com

I paid to advertise on the home pages of Lionbackers.com and 13thman.com. I've wanted to do that for awhile with a small video so this was the time to do it.

2) The Western Canada High School proper football field in downtown Calgary said no to the use of their field. Oh well it would have been nice to play on a proper field.

So last week I spoke to the City of Calgary and send off a application for the Princess Island Park area as per where the game was played in 2000. This was next best location. Its OK, I walked around there 2 weekends ago. If this is a no go I know a field close to downtown we can play at with no hassles.

3) The 09 Snow Bowl is going to be my #1 sports casting event of the 09 Grey Cup. Should be fun.  I'm also looking forward to hopefully playing in my 2nd Snow Bowl for the West.

4) I know of some great CFL fans that are looking forward to playing, watching, helping in some way. I've started up a "organizing" type email so please add to here and also we can do email.

The Snow Bowl rules as sent to me by Saskfan In Winnipeg!
1) TREAT THE OFFICIALS WITH RESPECT!!!
2) Seven (7) players per side.
3) One-hand touch.
4) An official CFL football as described in the CFL rulebook will be used. No vinyl footballs. No NFL footballs.
5)45-minutes per half (timed by referee) - At the three minute warning, there will be five plays to end the half (barring penalty).
6) NO FAKE PUNTS.
7) If a ball (except the snap to the QB/Kicker) is dropped, it is AUTOMATICALLY A DEAD BALL.
) While diving to make a catch or to tag somebody is allowed, sliding or diving for a loose ball is NOT allowed.
9) A kicked ball automatically puts the ball in the possession of the RECEIVING team, regardless of whether it is caught or not. No Yards (5 and 15 yards) can be called on punts.
10) The rusher must be identified BEFORE the play. He/she must line up at least five (5) yards off the line of scrimmage on the defensive side. The rusher must be in a position so that the centre can run straight ahead or to the side from where the rusher is not attacking. Once the rusher and centre pass, they can run whichever direction they want.
11) Other defensive players must line up at least one (1) yard on their side of scrimmage. They can also rush the QB, but only AFTER the rusher has crossed the line of scrimmage.
12) The quarterback cannot advance past the line of scrimmage until the designated rusher crosses the line of scrimmage.
13) Overtime will consist of a 10-minute game with a two-minute warning of three plays. Repeat if still tied.
14) Any rules dispute will be decided by the organizer of the Snow Bowl.

A email I sent recently
To TotalCFL regulars, some past regulars. (Some emails backfired if you didn't get it)

Please email me back if you want to be on a 09 Snow Bowl "organizing/promoting type" email. Please also send this email to anyone that you know that may be interested in playing in or promoting this event.

After some 2nd doubting thoughts, yesterday I decided to go ahead with organizing the 09 CFL Grey Cup Snow Bowl. After talking with Saskfan in Winnipeg, Hoof and some others this week as well.

I called the Calgary City Council yesterday and they had approved my application for a downtown location same as where the game was played in 2000 and when I said I decided to change the event to Sunday Grey Cup day they were still all OK. I'll pay the City the approx $70 and start planning now. I have to go with my original higher power type feeling/good vibs from several weeks ago that I need to do this as I believe it is a great event and also seeing I'm still based in Calgary.

From the City of Calgary. "Hi Andrew, I am emailing to notify you that your application for a special event November 29, 2009 at Prince’s Island Park has been approved. I've attached a copy of the permit for your reference, and a hard copy will follow in the mail shortly." Lisa

I changed it to Sunday from 12 pm to 1pm+. The Grey Cup game starts at 4.30pm so this time gives people time to get to The Grey Cup. Also there is nothing else much on at this time. Also the "CFL Fans Fight Cancer/13thman" have a Grey Cup Meet and Greet after the Parade on the Saturday. I think Sunday will be good, the same day as The Grey Cup is a nice feeling as well.

I'll start to get players registered etc. This is my main focus now for The Grey Cup. I aim to do a great MYKwebTV/TotalCFL TV show from the event as well. I'll promote the event all during The Grey Cup via flyers etc. Several website owners from excellent CFL Fan based websites have agreed to promote the event on their sites. I'll setup a Facebook Event page soon as well. Information on here as well http://www.mykaussie.com/MykMoosesCFLFootywebWORLDSnowBowl.htm

Not sure if I will get time to get many sponsors but will try. Main thing I'm doing is to head up the organizing of a great game and get fans and some media and CFL players past and present to watch. I really hope some past Snow Bowl players will again play and past spectators will again watch/be involved while I'll also be aiming to get new football fans to the event.

Please email me back if you want to be on a 09 CFL Snow Bowl "organizing/promoting type" email. Please also send this email to anyone that you know that may be interested in playing in or promoting this event.

and Vancouver '99.

How can you possibly be faster at your advanced age?  I know for a fact that you have been having birthdays just like the rest of us.  Only thing I'm faster at now is breaking a sweat... which I managed to do just typing this post.

You're an inspiration to all us old folks.

Sure Graham. You were young and single way back then. Since then your footspeed has allowed you to get caught....and married.

Well, since getting married, my wife says I've become very good at running and passing:

-running up a heating bill
-passing wind

http://www.mykaussie.com/MykMoosesCFLFootywebWORLDSnowBowl.htm

I'll be aiming to add a new player profile many days this week. Also looking in particular for guys from the East that want to play but also West players as well as the more the better.

09 Snow Bowlers

I added a 09 Snow Bowl Facebook Event page tonight. If you are on Facebook go to my Profile "Myk Aussie" and you will see it on there.

I used the Search on Facebook but it didn't show up, not sure why.

Still need "some" more players mainly guys wanting to play for the East team.

I'm picking up the brand new CFL Football tomorrow for the game. Email me myk@mykaussie.com re any questions, ideas.

Another 09 Snow Bowl update!

This is awesome. Jackie Kellogg the former Eskimo and Stampeder Defender will be the cohost of the extensive MYKwebTV/TotalCFL TV show that we are producing from the Snow Bowl.

Since retiring from the CFL Jackie has been involved in the Stampeder Alumni, the Henry Burris All-Star weekend Festivities and more.

My #1 choice to cohost the shows has come through.  I'll be trying to get other former and current CFL players there to watch and or be involved.

LOL, about the only lining up I am in shape to do is the line up for beer.

But yeah, not sure if I can make the SB Game 100% yet as I only found out eight hours ago that I was even going to Calgary.
